Wine tasting
I love to organise is a thematic wine-tasting, paired with perfectly matched little side dishes. My heart belongs to the wines of the Ardèche — the deep, velvety Chatus, the almost mysterious grey-hued dry rosé, and the fragrant dry white Viognier, to name just a few. Other themes are possible too — the noble Pinot Noirs and elegant Chardonnays of Bourgogne, or the bold Syrahs and silky Grenaches of the Rhône Valley, which is right on our doorstep. And speaking of the Rhône, I have a fond personal memory of buying Crozes-Hermitage by the liter as a student, bottling it myself back home in Amsterdam!
